Message from our Principal

With the excitement of the ending of a school year and the welcoming of summer, the staff and I at St. Peter are well underway planning for the 2017-2018 school year.

We are blessed by conducting two camps currently running at St. Peter.  We have our Summer Daycare Camp along with a Summer Camp.  Our Daycare hosts our younger campers, beginning at 18 months and our Summer Camp hosts our Kindergarten and up.

Each camp follows a theme of the week.  Our camps began with our young campers welcoming summer while our older ones spent a week in China.  Both groups are having a great time.  In the words of one camper, “I want to stay here for a million days”.   We have also enjoyed hosting St. Charles Catholic’s dance camp and their summer school program.

As we begin our planning for next year, I would like to welcome back our entire faculty, as well as introduce two new members.  Miss Allie Zimmerman is our new Middle School Religion and Social Studies teacher and spearheading a new program for St. Peter is Mrs. Robin Burnette, a Reading Specialist.

Miss Zimmerman has her certification in secondary education and is looking forward to the upcoming school year and being a part of our school community.

Mrs. Burnette is very excited about beginning a new program here at St. Peter.  She has taught various grade levels for 37 years. She brings with her experience in writing labs and has spent 12 years teaching Reading Recovery and literacy groups.  She will be on campus three days a week to help ensure that all of our students are successful readers.

On a separate note, once again the River Parish Theatre (formerly St. James Community Theatre) will use our auditorium for the production of Annie.  The show dates are July 14, 15, 16, 20, 21 and 22.  Tickets are available beginning June 19 on-line at  Please come out and support community theatre as well as St. Peter School.

Lastly, our major project this year is removing the old ceiling tiles in the auditorium and exposing the beautiful wood beams that are currently there.  This will not only look nice but it will allow for our volleyball team to finally play home games truly at home.

So as you can see, we have plenty of things going on here at St. Peter School, even in the summer.  I would also like to thank you for continuously supporting St. Peter School in our various fundraisers over the year.  We truly couldn’t offer all of the things we do without the support from our parents and community.

I hope you all have a wonderful summer.

Marie Comeaux, M.Ed.
